My Life Verse

Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

The Great Commission

Matthew 28:19-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

I have the honor of serving in missions in Atlanta, Georgia
with North American Mission Board in one of the largest
refugee and immigrant communities in the United States.
We literally have people from all over the world at our
doorstep. If we could reach them we could change the world
for Christ as they share and take the Gospel back to their
homelands and with their people.

I love this song because it reminds me that where ever we live
we can serve Him. I love traveling overseas on mission trips
and I love the people I meet and learning about the cultures in
different countries. I pray that I will always be able to go to serve
in other countries, But for now I am called to serve daily in
Atlanta, GA. because "He is the God of this city and greater things
have yet to come and greater work is still to be done in this city!"

"You shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

(Well I'm disappointed that this song didn't do well.)

I haven't been posting very much lately. Things are so
busy for us. We had a good choir practice on Thursday
in Clarkston. There are no after school programs this
week since the kids are out of school. We are hurriedly
getting ready to go to PA over Thanksgiving. We will be
staying on the farm with our Mennonite friends and
celebrating Thanksgiving with them. David will meet us
at the farm on Thursday then we will go up to Bethlehem/
Nazareth PA on Friday. Of course we will be eating
Chick Fil A for lunch on Friday and checking out a part
of PA that we have never been to before.

Mark and I had a wonderful time at FBA last night
at a dinner held for all of our short term mission
teams this year. Beverly Minor sang 2 songs for us.
Greg Smith spoke and gave us a challenge. The food
and fellowhip was great too!

We had so much fun at the apartment yesterday.
We got there at 2:30. Leah and Deborah helped
fix the snack. When the children all got there
they came through the kitchen and the girls
handed them each a snack of cookies and fruit
snacks. Then Leah and Deborah went around with
pitchers and gave each of the kids a cup of water.
We all helped with homework until 4:20 and then
set up the room for choir. We had a good choir
practice 1st with the younger kids and then with
the older girls. The older girls are singing this
Sunday at a church in Tucker. They will be
performing their African songs. Our friend Sarnaa
joined us at the mission yesterday. He is
preparing to go be a missionary in Ethiopia. We got home
around 7:00. I cooked a dinner of broiled tilapia,
couscous and green beans after we got home. We had
a late dinner but I went to bed early.

Last week we got David off to Bethlehem, PA where
he will be working for a new Chick Fil A. He got
there safely and was to start working this week.
I have had several trips to the Dr. in the last
few weeks. I started BP medicine which finally
has my BP back to normal.

Yesterday we went for a nice walk. The flowers at
the mailbox are still in bloom. Bonnie had fun walking
with us but almost took off when a cat crossed the
road in front of us.

Today we were in Clarkston. Due to new management
policies we can no longer take photographs there
or mention the name of the apartment. It was pouring
rain when we got to the apartment. The kids came in
all wet. We helped them get their homework done
and then sent them home. Several children had math-
reducing fractions. 2 of the girls had to write
poems. We had lots of fun helping them with their
writing on the computer.
